Lashmar lashing for EP as Seaford run riot in West Sussex

Seaford Town put on a show at the Lashmar as they made it two wins from two to start their SCFL Division One campaign. A first-half hattrick from Tyler Capon, along with goals from Marcus Richmond and Josh Wright put East Preston to the sword, as Seaford climb momentarily to the top of the table.

Paul Wise's visitors enjoyed a useful spell of early pressure, and took a deserved lead in the 12th minute thanks to striker Tyler Capon. Good anticipation from Matt Ford allowed the midfielder to intercept the ball of an East Preston defender, with the ball ricocheting kindly into the path of Capon, who finished from a tight angle after rounding the 'keeper.

Seaford's and Capon's goal tally for the evening was soon doubled five minutes later, after E.P 'keeper Toby Matthews was unable to collect a Marcus Richmond delivery from the left flank, allowing Capon to bundle into an empty net from point-blank range.

Two became three in the 24th minute, with Capon sealing off a first half hat-trick in emphatic style. With the East Preston backline backpedalling in their own half, an excellent forward pass from Richmond allowed Capon in behind, who confidently side-footed a finish into the bottom-right corner.

A half of few positives for the hosts, with East Preston struggling to regroup after numerous turnovers in the midfield. For Seaford, the activity of Ford, Howard Squires and Ronnie Galt to force errors allowed them to get out quickly on the counter, while the forward play of Richmond and Capon turned good football into real goalscoring chances.

It didn't take long for Seaford to extend their lead after the restart, and it was Richmond who bagged a deserved goal for his efforts, slotting home in the 49th minute after latching on the end of a long ball over the top of the East Preston defence.

Josh Wright opened his Seaford Town account for the season to round off the scoring in the 70th minute. A well-timed run off the shoulder of the last man allowed Wright in on goal, finishing off the post and into the far corner to cap off a resounding victory for Town.
