Rowe-Hurst screamer sends Seaford on their way to another three points

Seaford Town continued to assert themselves in the Division One playoff race after a 2-1 win over Billingshurst at the Crouch. Two first-half goals, including a spectacular effort from Jack Rowe-Hurst just before the half, proved enough for the three points against a strong-willed Billingshurst side looking for what would have been their third win on the bounce.

Seaford started confidently, and within 5 minutes they would go on to find their opener courtesy of forward Reece Edwards. After taking a Rowe-Hurst pass in his stride, the winger was able to set his feet in the box before flashing an effort past Tom Baxter in the Billingshurst goal, making it 1-0 to the hosts with their first effort on goal.

Their lead would last barely a minute, however, with Jake Chadwick coming up with an equaliser for Billingshurst in the 6th minute. Picking up the ball from a headed Mike Platt clearance, Chadwick had the time to size up an effort from 35 yards, and with the 'keeper off his line, the midfielder was able to clip the ball into the far corner of the net to level the scores.

With just under a minute of play remaining in the first half, centre-forward Rowe-Hurst produced a moment of brilliance to restore Seaford's lead. With the ball fizzed in from a Scott Marshall free-kick, Rowe-Hurst's first touch set himself up to take on an audacious overhead kick which found the far corner of the net. Cue jubilant celebrations from the Seaford frontman, with the hosts relieved to have restored their advantage ahead of the half-time whistle.

The visitors came out quickly following the restart, and Seaford were almost punished early on when Sam Bull was played through on goal in the 46th minute, with the forward flashing his effort just wide of the far post from a good position inside the box. A wake-up call for the home side, who had already felt the repercussions of not being alert following the restart with Billingshurst's equaliser.

While both teams failed to create anything clear-cut in the second 45, Lee Spickett's side arguably had the better of the opportunities in their bid to get something out of the game, with Tom Edwards firing over in the 62nd minute following one of several promising passages for Billingshurst after half time.

Despite Seaford continuing to fall short in their search to extend their lead, their one-goal advantage would eventually prove enough to see out the victory, with the 2-1 win seeing Paul Wise's side rise to 60 points ahead of a 4-week break until their next league fixture.
