Strike force on form as Seaford overcome Oakwood at The Crouch

Seaford Town made it five league wins in a row as they saw off relegation-threatened Oakwood 3-1 at The Crouch.

First half strikes from Josh Wright and Tyler Capon either side of an Oakwood equaliser saw Town ahead at the break, before a late effort from substitute Callum Connor sealed a deserved three points for the hosts.

It took only 70 seconds for Seaford to find an opener, after link-up play between strike partners Capon and Wright saw the latter released in behind the Oakwood defence, before finishing low into the bottom left corner to give Town the lead.

Wright could have had a brace inside 10 minutes; a misjudged bounce mid-way inside the Oakwood half allowed the forward space and time on goal in a similar position to his opener, yet his effort was deflected behind for a corner.

Oakwood enjoyed their first spell with the ball around the quarter of an hour mark, and managed to to level the score in fortunate circumstances through striker Paul Johnston. With Seaford in possession in their own third, a poorly-weighted pass back to 'keeper Wester Young was intercepted by the alert Johnston, who turned the ball home from 10 yards to level the scoring.

The mishap did not dampen Seaford's effort, and Paul Wise's side went on to restore their lead after 21 minutes through top scorer Capon. A lofted ball in behind the away defence led to Capon being brought down with the goal at his wake, and after the subsequent free-kick was too hot to handle for Oakwood stopper Andy Greaves, the ball fell kindly to Capon who stabbed home from close range.

After a second half starved of goalmouth action at either end, two attacking substitutes for Seaford eventually combined to put the result beyond doubt. Marcus Richmond found Callum Connor with space at the edge of the box, with Connor shifting onto his left before firing low past Greaves for Seaford's third and final goal of the afternoon.

Town are back in home action on Easter Monday as they welcome Mile Oak to The Crouch (11am KO).
