Forest Row hit for six at The Crouch as Seaford return to winning ways in the league

Seaford Town put on a dominant display at The Crouch to see off Forest Row 6-2 in SCFL Division One.

First half strikes from Matt Ford and Alex Saunders sent Town on their way, while a second half double from Ryan Knight alongside goals from Simon Piper and Callum Connor secured the three points against a makeshift Forest Row side.

Seaford came out quickly from the first whistle, and managed to take an early lead thanks to a third minute strike from Matt Ford. With the hosts having done well to keep possession in the Forest Row half, a loose ball just outside the area invited Ford to take on a left-footed strike, which nestled low into the bottom right corner to give Town the lead.

Keeping the pressure on following the opener, Seaford nearly found a second goal five minutes later, with the referee whistling for a foul in the area to rule out George Davis' back post header following a corner delivery.

Forest Row struggled to get their foot on the ball throughout the opening stages, with Seaford comfortable in dealing with the visitors' threat in behind through the large majority of the first half.

With half time only moments away, Seaford doubled their lead thanks to a quick counter-attack finished off by Alex Saunders. Having cleared away a Forest Row corner, smart play from Josh Wright allowed Davis to take on a shot which struck the near post, before falling kindly into the path of Saunders to stab home his first of the campaign.

Seaford found a third goal five minutes after the restart, with centre back Ryan Knight pulling off a spectacular strike to extend the home side's lead. After a free-kick in a dangerous position was struck into the wall by Connor, Knight adjusted himself on the rebound to hit a half-volley into the top right corner.

The visitors found a goal back in the 53rd minute, with George Holah coverting from the spot after the referee signalled for a spot kick following a Frow corner ball.

Goals kept on coming in a frantic opening to the second half with substitute Simon Piper making it 4-1 in the 56th minute, finding the bottom left corner from 25 yards after Matt Ford did well to win the ball back for Seaford in the final third.

For the second time in the last period, Forest Row were awarded a penalty after Seaford 'keeper Wester Young was called for a foul on striker Callum Downer in the area, with Holah stepping up once again to make it 4-2 on the hour mark.

Connor finally got himself on the scoresheet for Seaford with just under five minutes of normal time to play, sitting the 'keeper down in the box before finding the roof of the net from close range to make it five.

Seaford rounded off the scoring in the 90th minute with Knight doubling his tally for the afternoon, heading in at the back post after a fantastic set-piece delivery from midfielder Ronnie Galt.

Frow were forced to play the final stages with ten men, with Desire Sambouany sent off after an altercation in the Forest Row penalty area, but it was nothing more than salt in the wound for the away side as Seaford saw out a deserved 6-2 victory in the end.
